Charity Vendors

Each year SILC invites a handful of charities, NGO's and community organisations to the Bazaar to give them the opportunity to showcase their work and fundraising products.
The list below are all supporting good causes in and around Bangkok.  Please visit their stalls and show your support.

Amnesty International

Only when the last prisoner of conscience has been freed, when the last torture chamber has been closed, when the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights is a reality for the world's people, will our work be done". In 1961, Peter Benenson introduced to the world what has now become one of the largest global human rights movements - Amnesty International. As a global movement with offices in over 70 countries, Amnesty International fights for a world where human rights are enjoyed equally by all through campaign action, advocacy, and lobbying.

Amnesty International will be selling notebooks and tote bags designed by Chamaliin, a women group composed of local refugees who reside in Thailand.

Asylum Access Thailand / Chamalin

Inspired by refugees’ beautiful traditional artistic skills, Chamaliin is a brand that proudly supports refugee and asylum-seeking women in Bangkok, by collaborating in the creation of fashionable garments and accessories that are easily wearable, yet reflect the cultural identity of the women who made it.

Chamaliin has benefited more than 50 craftswomen from Vietnam, Laos, Sri Lanka and Pakistan by economical empowerment and ability to access better social services, psychosocial assistance and deliver relevant training that increase their safety in Thailand.

80% of the sales are returned directly to the craftswomen.

Caritas

Key rings and bags made from fabrics to raise funds for refugees.

Christmas Cakes

Christmas is a time of giving and this is exactly what this charitable group intends to do. For every Christmas cake, sweet treat or festive decoration that you buy, the money will go to a charity of their choice. Whether you choose the traditional boozy Christmas cake packed full of fruit, or the equally delectable non-alcoholic version, you will not be disappointed.

Cakes will be available to purchase on the day or you can make an order and collect it nearer to Christmas.

Also on offer will be fun, frivolous and festive goodies which you can either keep for yourself, give to friends or use as a stocking filler.

To beat the queue, why not email them today and make an order - charitychristmascakes@gmail.com

Cooking with Poo

I cooked with Poo and I liked it!

K Poo will have a table at this year's SILC BAZAAR. Make some room in your kitchen cupboard for their lovely products or book a cooking class.

Ruth Centre

Through Thai History, the elderly have been regarded as a pillar of the community. But times change and now the elderly are often treated as a burden to society. Ruth's centre heart goal is to work with the slum community in Bangkok Prawet district. The products of the Dream project are designed by Ruth Center staff and volunteers, and hand-sewn by underprivileged elderly women, as a way for them to earn some money using their sewing skills.

SILC Craft Club

Visit the SILC Craft Club stall and purchase a Christmas themed table runner and a cushion or two.  All lovingly hand crafted by our skilled SILC ladies with all proceeds going towards our SILC Community projects.

Bilingual Bites 2 will also be on sale at the bazaar.

SNIP

SNIP is a local organisation helping to sterilise the street dogs and cats in Bangkok, especially in the Bearing / Bangna area. SNIP stands for Spay, Neuter, Innoculate Program. Please support them by buying their lovingly crafted handicrafts aimed at not only you but also your children and your "furkids". Every purchase makes a difference, as all the money raised goes to helping the cats and dogs on the streets receive veterinary treatment when necessary, but also, more importantly, be sterilised so that no more kittens or puppies are born on the street to lead a sad and hard life.

SopMoeiArts

SopMoeiArts is an NGO which has been working with the Pwo Karen in the Sop Moei district of Mae Hong Son Province for the last 30 years, with the aim of helping them become more self-sufficient.

SopMoeiArts makes decorative items and accessories, such as bags with hand woven-textiles, table runners, wall hangings, placemats, scarves and much more.

Steps with Theera

Steps with Theera is a social enterprise coffee shop and vocational training centre for people with special educational needs. We believe in the capabilities of the people we work with and support them with skills for life, skills for independence and skills for employment. They are given hands-on experience in our coffee shop and gain UK-accredited qualifications for their work. Once they are ready, we help them transition to sustainable employment opportunities so they can become independent and live dignified, fulfilled lives.
